Big Sky Search

SEO content & copywriting in Suffolk

Pages and articles that answer what your customers are actually searching for, written so people want to read them.

Search engines reward pages that answer a question completely and clearly. Customers reward the same thing. Our content work starts with what people search for, checks what Google is already ranking for those searches, and then produces something more useful than what is there.

What we write

  • Service pages that explain what you do, who it is for, what it costs (where you are happy to say) and what happens next.
  • Location pages with genuine local detail, not a template with the town name swapped.
  • Guides and blog posts that answer the questions customers ask before they buy.
  • Category and product copy for online shops.
  • Refreshes of existing pages that used to rank and have slipped.

How each piece is researched

We look at the search terms, the pages currently ranking, the questions shown in "People also ask" and the entities and topics those pages cover. Then we talk to you. The best content we produce for Suffolk clients always includes something only the business knows: how long a barn conversion really takes to get through East Suffolk planning, what sugar beet growers ask at the start of the campaign, or which months the coast fills up with visitors.

Our writing standards

  • UK English, plain language and short paragraphs.
  • No filler, no invented statistics and no claims you cannot back up.
  • Facts checked against primary sources.
  • Clear headings so readers and search engines can scan the page.
  • Internal links to related pages so visitors can keep going.

Well-structured, factual content is also what AI assistants and Google's AI Overviews draw on when they answer questions. We write with that in mind; see our AI search optimisation page for more on how.

Our content process, step by step

  1. Topic and keyword brief. We confirm the search the page should answer, the intent behind it and the questions that need covering.
  2. Competitor review. We read the pages currently ranking and note what they cover well and what they miss.
  3. Interview. A short call or a list of questions to capture your expertise, local knowledge and the details only you know.
  4. Draft. Written in UK English, structured with clear headings, and checked for facts and claims.
  5. Review. You check it for accuracy and tone. We make changes until you are happy.
  6. Publish and link. We publish or hand over the page with suggested titles, meta descriptions, internal links and images.

How long content takes to work

Writing a strong service page or guide takes one to two weeks including your review. Google usually indexes new content within days, but rankings tend to build over two to six months as Google gathers signals about how useful the page is. Refreshes of pages that already rank often show results faster than brand-new pages.

What affects the cost

  • Depth. A 600-word service page and a 1,800-word guide with original research are different jobs.
  • Subject expertise. Technical subjects such as customs procedures, engineering or financial regulation need more research and review time.
  • Volume. Regular monthly content is planned and priced differently from one-off pages.
  • Extras. Original photography, diagrams or data analysis add to the cost.

Content mistakes we often fix

  • Writing for keywords instead of people. Awkward repetition of "SEO Suffolk" or "plumber Ipswich" reads badly and no longer helps.
  • Several pages competing for the same search. We merge or refocus them so one strong page ranks.
  • Generic blog posts. Articles that could be about anywhere rarely rank or convert. Local detail and real experience make the difference.
  • No next step. Pages that inform but never tell the reader what to do next.
  • Out-of-date facts. Old prices, regulations or dates undermine trust.

How we measure content performance

For each page we track search impressions, clicks and average position in Search Console, engagement in your analytics, and, most importantly, enquiries or sales the page leads to. Every few months we review older content and recommend whether to refresh, merge or leave each piece.

A test for any page on your site: could a competitor in another county publish it unchanged? If yes, it needs more of your own knowledge in it.

Content works best with a clear keyword strategy behind it and link building to help it get noticed. For online shops, see e-commerce SEO. Our post on SEO for Suffolk food and drink producers shows how provenance content works in practice, and our Woodbridge and Martlesham page covers content for technology firms.

Frequently asked questions

Will the content sound like us?

That is the aim. We read your existing material, ask how you talk to customers, and you review every draft. Most clients find the second and third pieces need far fewer changes than the first.

Do you use AI to write content?

We use software for research and checking, but every page is planned, written and edited by a person, with facts checked against sources. We do not publish unedited AI text.

How often should we publish new content?

It depends on your goals and competition. Many small businesses do well with a few strong pages a quarter plus refreshes of existing pages, rather than frequent thin posts.

Can you rewrite our existing pages?

Yes. Refreshing pages that already have some visibility is often the quickest way to improve results.

Who owns the content?

You do, once it is paid for. It stays on your site and remains yours if we stop working together.
